Guy Renner-Thompson has joined Sedgefield Paul Howell MP for a tour of Aycliffe Business Park.
Spread across 400 hectares, Aycliffe Business Park is home to more than 500 companies employing around 10,000 people. Major employers include Hitachi, Gestamp and Husqvarna.
Guy said "I’ve hit the ground running on my tour of region, first off to Newton Aycliffe with the Paul Howell and the team discussing the issues important to the area.
Aycliffe Business Park is a perfect example of what can be achieved in the North East. But there is still work to do. Those companies need need proper transport links for employees to get to work. Local people need to be able to access skills and employability training to help them into the jobs of the future. I would use my powers as Mayor to make this a reality with joined up transport, business and education policy.
Devolution is huge opportunity for the North East. We need to make sure Newton Aycliffe and County Durham gets its fair share"
